Hey everyone,
I'm sure that this has been brought up ad nauseam on this board, but I did a search (and a google search) and couldn't find anything recent.
I'm originally from Gretna, moved to Mandeville, and then to South Florida. Joined the USMC and haven't been able to make it home in about 5 years.
I'm bringing my girlfriend to Louisiana from October 28th-November 7th (Going to the Saints/Seahawks game on the 30th, and LSU/Bama game on the 5th). It'll be her first time, and we're trying to see if moving to LA is something she'd be interested in doing. She is lactose intolerant, for your information.
What bars and restaurants would everyone recommend?
From the 28th-30th we'll be in Mandeville (we will be in New Orleans the majority of the time), from the 31st-4th we'll be in New Orleans (Bayou St John), and from the 5th-7th we'll be in Baton Rouge.
All suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
PS: Any tips to get "adopted" into a tailgate for the LSU game would be appreciated as well!

Bars: Bayou Beer Garden, Bayou Wine Garden, Pal's, Finn McCool's, Mid-City Yacht Club, Treo. Not too far away on the edge of the FQ are The Black Penny and Bar Tonique.
Restaurants: 1,000 Figs, Café Degas, Toup's, Tana, MoPho, Parkway, Blue Oak BBQ. And many more. Enjoy your trip!!

One the Northshore:
Mac's on Boston, Del Porto and Ox Lot 9 are all great choices. They are in Old Covington.
There aren't any decent bars that I am aware of, so can't help you there. Tap Room is probably your best bet.
New Orleans:
August is my favorite fine dining, though it is opposite end of BSJ.
Cafe Amelie on Royal is great stuff. The courtyard is gorgeous, and this is the perfect time of the year to go.

Sorry guys, should've made this clear before. Location doesn't really matter too much (as long as the bars are walkable from a street car station in NOLA).
Just looking for the location's best!
Plus, it's the first time I've been of age to go bar hopping in LA. So, I'd like to explore!

If you think it's your thing, the Ace Hotel and the Ponchatrain Hotel both have very nice rooftop bars.

I gave you suggestions mostly in Mid-City because you are close. Bus, streetcar or uber/cabs are all close to my suggestions.

Glassman,
Thank you!
I'm planning on bar hopping like a mofo and trying to get to most of what is recommended.

As it turns out, I'll be in Uptown instead of Bayou St John!
