Bacon Grease

I've always been told to save bacon grease to use in other dishes. I recently started storing a mason jar full in the refrigerator but I'm not really sure what to do with it. What do y'all use it in and is it even worth saving? I'm relatively new to cooking so sorry for the rookie question.

Stir fry your cabbage in the grease...yum.

I keep mine in a crock in the fridge. Saute the trinity in it and then cook some fresh green beans or cabbage or other awesome vegetables. Use it when making cornbread (put some in the iron skillet, put skillet in the oven while it preheats, then add the cornbread batter ... awesome).
Lots of good things start with a little bacon grease. I just can't think of them right now. :)

this. I've had some of the best salads dressings that started from BG.

Sometimes when I sautée something, usually with olive oil, I'll add a spoonful of bacon grease with the oil just to give it a little different flavor

I use it like I would use olive oil, butter, etc. I sweat onions in it, fry an egg with it, use it to lightly grease the pan for grilled cheese.

I agree with this. And when I make a small roux, I use thirds each of bacon grease, oil from my fryer and butter

I put some on my burger buns before toasting them.

Fry eggs in it. Cook my pulled pork in it to crisp it up some, sort of like a pork confit. Saute' veggies in it.

My grandma use to line the bottom of the skillet with bacon grease when she made homemade biscuits. Her biscuits were fantstic!

Iv really been wondering about this. Gumbo is really the only thing I cook that's above average. Thought about making my roux with the bacon grease

I keep them for making a roux. How long would it be good for?

Use instead of oil in your cornbread.
