I will be in Austin, TX for 3 days with the wife (leaving tomorrow) and I was hoping for some recommendations.

It's a little out, but the Salt Lick is spectacular.

Also. There's a little Mexican restaurant that sits over Lake Austin but I can't think of the name of it. Good time and food was pretty good as well

Go to La Barbecue (ribs), Franklin's (brisket), or Rudy's (brisket, creamed corn) for BBQ over Salt Lick. They're all better. Only Rudy's is open for dinner and the others are open for lunch only & there are lines.

Eddie V's, Jaspers, and North are all go-to places for great food. I think Eddie V's is the best of the three but they're all great.

24 Diner is fantastic - I eat lunch there 2x/week or more

My roommate mentioned this place.

Thanks for the responses. We are definitely going to be checking out a lot of these places.

What's you rec on mexi? I think some these suggestions on mexi are questionable at best. I always hit Curra's when I'm there and then Fonda San Miquel occasionally. East Side King is great for asian fusion or whatever they call it.

I think you nailed it. Fonda is the best Mexican in Austin for my money, albeit upscale. Curra's a close second but they're very different.

La Mancha over here off Hancock just opened and is a better version of Trudy's, which has been total shite lately.
