There are plenty of stouts that are better. And before you say that they are less common than Guinness, consider that you yourself have expressed that not all Guinness pours are equal. I'd wager you could find an American stout that exceeds the quality of Guinness easier than you could find a place that does a "proper" pour of Guinness.

I suppose that is so, and stouts in season are some of my favorite beers.

I like variety, change, new, different, but but having a good Guinness is like coming home. Sometimes I actually get tired of the creativity and just want to go back to basics.

I agree, but there aren't many dry stouts better than Guinness.

and American Stouts and Dry Stouts are about as similar as Blonde Ales and IPAs.
