Atomic Burger buys land near LSU for 'cool, contemporary' Baton Rouge location

Atomic Burger, a Metairie restaurant that has won national acclaim for its hamburgers made with fresh house-ground beef, plans to open a location near LSU.
AB Burbank LLC, an entity controlled by Atomic Burger co-founder Joseph Spitale, purchased a 0.8-acre site near the intersection of Burbank Drive and Ben Hur Road for $871,100 in a deal that was filed Tuesday. The seller was Burtelle LLC, a group controlled by some of the heirs of the late local auto dealer Price LeBlanc.
The land is an outparcel in front of the 125,000-square-foot Rouses-anchored shopping center that Eisnberg Co. is developing at the corner of Burbank and West Lee Drive, said Justin Langlois, an agent with SVN|Graham, Langlois & Legendre. Langlois represented the buyer. Unlike a number of businesses located on Burbank, Atomic Burger’s property will have direct access to the busy street.
Atomic Burger is getting the necessary permits and hopes to start construction on a 2,500- square-foot restaurant by December. “They have a cool, contemporary design planned for the restaurant,” Langlois said. “It’s pretty unique.”
Atomic Burger, which was founded by Spitale and his brother, Nick, has been in business at 3934 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie since November 2013. The restaurant has a simple menu of burgers, hot dogs, fries and steamed edamame, along with milkshakes that are chilled to order with liquid nitrogen.

You going to have to sell a shite ton of burgers to recoup that. That's not even building costs.

Bet curbside is good but i'm not paying 12-15$ for just a burger. Can almost get an entree

Burgersmith used to be our go-to until Curbside opened.
And the average Curbside burger is $9-$10. It ain't cheap, but it's quality.

You aren't doing that at Curbside, so I'm not really following your post.
Most are $12 and under with fries and a drink.
ETA: Menu with prices

Curbside is good, problem is it takes 2 of their burgers to fill me up. I end up spending $25

They paid 900k for their vets location property I believe, plus build out. That's actually pretty cheap for vets. They have a few investors w deep pockets too
thet played it smart and got everything down before opening a 2nd location. They have big time plans for franchising

That's probably the same playbook Curbside is operating out of. I don't claim any insider knowledge, but I bet there will be a Curbside in Lafayette or metro New Orleans in the next 5 years.

I was not impressed with Curbside at all. Fat Cow is much better.
