Will be at the Met all day with wife and kids. My son and I may have to take a break from the art. Are there any good taprooms close to the Met? Anybody want to join me? I'm not exactly sure what time I'll be available. Probably around twoish.
Note - my son is 17, so I need a place that will allow him, because I don't want to tie him up outside...

You're in new York?
You have to go to a restaurant then.

Correct. I want a place with a well curated tallest and don't care about the food. My son isn't picky and he just wants to get out of the museum so he can play on his phone...

About a 10 minute walk to the loeb boathouse in Central Park. It's on Google maps.
Call and make sure they are open today.

Then you need to be a good parent and get some culture into that boy. The Met houses some amazing works of art from medevial to modern. Find something he's interested in.
They have some of the greatest paintings, and entire exhibit on Medevial Weapons and armor, an exhibit on musical instruments evolution throughout time.

I don't know how parents do if. If I paid to take my kid to one of the greatest cities on the planet and he was buried in his phone, I'd throw him off the Brooklyn bridge. You are a more patient man than I.

How about Earl's Beer and Cheese, its a small little place (not sure if still there) with a few menu items and a couple of beers on tap.

We are going to the Met. We'll be there most of the day. Both my son and I will want to take a break for an hour or so. We'll grab a bite, a beer (root beer for him), and then we'll go back. I will give him some culture, but I don't want to overdo it.

Fair enough ,
Go to the boat house I mentioned, the bar on the water in the middle of Central Park is a cool experience. A break from culture while seeing something uniquely New York

Oh, he gives me lots of reasons to do that...
He won't have his phone in the museum. His sister's will, because they will use the museum app properly. My son wont, so his phone will be in my pocket. When we take a break, I swill give him his phone back.
