So decided to do a bar crawl in Ascension Parish yesterday.....

- Fred's on the River: not a bad place, ok beer selection, great area to just hang out though. Plenty of white trash but plenty of talent available as well.

- Mom's Bar: Closed
- Weber City Bar: Closed

- Corner Bar: cash only, limited beer menu, great place to just talk to locals

- Fisherman's Wharf- cash only, again nothing but locals no talent to hit on. Smoking inside

- Cajun Daiquiri: like any other Daquiri shop, nothing unique

- Bayou Bar: cash only, another place to hang out with locals as only the same people show up

- Tiger Tavern: you fest place to go, been so many times but only open for drive through now

- Nic's Bar: great music, decent drinks, more of mid 30's or 40's crowd

- Park Place: good bands, younger crowd if you are over 39 you will stand out unless you look young

Not open, not judging but based on previous experiences great beer, sterile environment, decent crowd

See, I’m a regular at both these joints and I find the crowd at Nic’s to be mostly under 30 and Park Place to be over 30.

Sucks Tiger Tavern is to-go only. They have solid daqs and the best beer menu in town. Gilla is also a solid brewery, and I cannot wait for their taproom to reopen. That had become my friends’ go-to spot.

the lone holdout during the lowes takeover.

almost never see that lot empty whether it's 7am or midnight. seems like a place that doesn't like strangers.

I'll say this every place was extremely friendly, even though I was new. People were talking to me, welcoming, and just good people.

i stopped by bayou bar when i first moved to AP. Walked in and it felt like when a stranger walks into a saloon in an old western.

Oh certainly, as soon as you walk in everyone in the bar turns around to look at you

Sign in the front says open 7(upside down L) - TIL.

I exclusively drink at dive bars and a close relative used to own that bar and I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been inside.

I grew up not far from Fisherman’s wharf and corner bar, but I’ve never been inside either one. Never had the courage to go inside Bayou Bar. Never have remotely resembled the gnarley old biker type.

I haven’t been to Moonlight in ages.

I hit up Fat Catz once in a while, usually on Sundays for their blues jam.

Fat Katz
Moms
Red Barn
Mannys
Mr C’s
The Wharf
Corner Bar
Webber City Bar
Bayou Bar
Moonlight
The Cottage
Maybe:
Canal Bank
Aces
Robin Hood

This was the line up the previous year. Some of these bars have closed since then.

It’s an Ugly Christmas Sweater Shitty Bar Tour.

We’ve been doing if for a few years now. 10-12 bars, 2 beers (max) at each, plus Jell-O shots, and ransoms shots along the way. Not everybody makes it to each bar.
