Anyone here try to cook/eat these ? They are all over the marsh and rice fields. There are a few interesting Thai recipes for them on YouTube. Wondering if anyone had been curious enough to cook them.

Can you eat apple snails in Louisiana?

The LSU AgCenter advises that if you are going to eat an apple snail, please you caution when preparing the meal. “The snails are edible when thoroughly cooked and properly cleaned by removing all intestinal material,” according to the LSU AgCenter. If you don't prepare a meal of apple snails correctly, you could die.May 18, 2022

Wow. I didn't know that. I used to eat them all the time on survival camping trips when I was a kid. We'd put a flat stone in the fire and set the snails on top of it upside down to cook then suck the snail outta the shell. There were some days it was all the protein we could get out hands on.

You must have cooked them long enough. They carry Rat Lungworm.
