Mary Mahoney's for a nice seafood dinner.

ETA: Vrazel's does look incredibly good, but I've never been.

Gracias. I grew up in the area, so I'm pretty familiar with both (although I haven't eaten at either since July).

Food is good at both, but I think the atmosphere at Mahoney's is worlds better than Vrazel's.

I'd also recommend The Chimneys in Gulfport.

Sounds good. I'll be hitting Mahoney's again in March when I'm down there for a Kris Kristofferson show at the IP.

I ate at Vrazel's this past Saturday. Very good. Atmosphere reminds me of a formal church function. I had several fried items, (shrimp, crawfish, calamari, softshell crab, fish) and they were fried PERFECTLY. Other items were very good, cooked perfectly, but were a little under seasoned for my taste.

It can't compete with some of the "top" restaurants in New Orleans but it was the best meal I have had on the coast.

I think Hook Line and Sinker was devoured by a Casino, I haven't even seen remains of the building. I think it was gone before Katrina. I miss that place, they had the best Seafood Platter I have ever eaten.Fresh Flounder and everything. I found one of those place mats they had, with the little drawings on the Bay.The place we like best now for delicious fresh seafood to die for is Trapani's in Bay St Louis,Katrina washed out the original on the Bay rd but, now they are in a little shopping strip next to a Mexican Rest. on Hwy 90. Sometimes there's a wait, but, it is well worth it, you won't believe how huge the Shrimp Poboy is. The Italian fare there is supreme also. Last time we were there some people from N.O. had made the trip just for the Spaghetti! They have daily specials that are always good. It is in cozy comfy setting like eating at Grandmas. Try it , you'll like it!
