It looks like chain hell to me, but I was wondering if I'm missing any hidden gem, or should I just plan to drive some distance out of the area for a decent meal?

Eclipse de Luna is pretty fun. It's a Spanish influenced tapas restaurant with damn good Capirinhas.

If you head over to Sandy Spring, the food scene gets a little better.

iL Giallo Osteria & Bar for Italian is superb. All pasta is hand made. Former chef/ partner of Vini Vidi Vici. This is one of the very few Italian restaurants I will recommend because it's not the typical fettuccine alfredo and chicken parmesan.

Rumi's Kitchen if you want something a little different. Persian/ Mediterranean cuisine. Good, well spiced food. Can't go wrong with the lamb kabob.

Casi Cielo is an interesting upscale Mexican/ Latin American restaurant with big flavors. I liked the skirt steak when we ate there.

Rumi's was likely going to be one of my recommendations as well.

Plenty of high end prime steak in the area if you're interested. Kaiser's in Sandy Springs or McKendricks in Dunwoody are the local options, but there is a Cap Grille and a Double Eagle too.

Yeah, I wasn't looking too high end and not really steak houses. The other recommendations seemed more in line with what I was going for.

Thanks.

Gotcha

Under the Cork Tree is just off 285 in Sandy Springs and is another good local tapas/mediterranean place. There is a good Korean BBQ place in the same development, I think.

If you're around tomorrow Heirloom is arguably the best BBQ in Atlanta and is pretty close to you. It's closed Monday.

Heirloom is great

IMO there are only two other competitors

Fat Matt's is the most overrated by a huuuuge margin

When I visit my son, he always takes me to these ethnic restaurants on Buford highway. I wish I could give you a name, but their signs are mostly written in their native language.

Searched and found this. Recent.
