Anyone try this whole mayo on the steak nonsense?

I've seen a couple of chef type websites claim that putting mayo on a steak before it goes into the pan will add a nice crust
Guess it makes sense but I'd be afraid to try it unless I was cooking just for me which I rarely do.

So you cook for at least one other person. Just try it out on your steak to avoid ruining your dining companions dinner. Give them a taste if it's good.

It's great. Gives a good texture for the ketchup to stick to

I mean, mayo is egg, salt, and oil... so I'd imagine it'd work fine in small quantities and add some flavor.

It works great instead of butter on a grilled cheese. I'd try it on a steak to test the results.

I've tried it out, it works ok. Not something I would keep doing though.
I saw it from a guy on YouTube that showed how to cook a steak dinner in a normal hotel room using what he had available. Was pretty funny. May have saw it here, can't remember where I saw it posted.

One try can't hurt. Mayo is just another form of fat like butter or olive/any other oil.
