Anyone own a Uuni Pizza Oven?

Been doing my homework on it and likely going to get one.
~750 degree countertop wood pellet burning oven.
Would love any personal accounts if you have one or at least have had a pizza from one.

I don't know, but the Fakespot grade is terrible. Says 86.5% low quality reviews. That doesn't mean the product is low quality though.
Id never heard of this thing and expected itd cost much more, so $299 doesn't sound terrible. It might be gimmicky but at that price I wouldn't be scared away from giving it a shot. Let us know how it goes.

My buddy bought one and he really loves it BUT he is also one of those guys that rarely admits to making a mistake.
With that being said, I watched him cook a couple and it took less than a minute or two and it tasted good. My only problem was the size....the oven is small and thus the pizza.
I considered buying one but will stick to the BGE for now.

Look at the RoccBox. Similar concept, but larger opening. I’m back to cooking on a preheated baking steel beneath the broiler. Easiest option and excellent results.

My parents sell them, so they had taken one home a while back. Not a bad little oven once you figure it out. Only gripe is Its tough to control temperature. I suppose it could have been the pellets we were using but it seemed like either we were scorching all the pizzas or couldn’t keep the fire lit. But like I said, once we figured it out, the pizza was really good.

Interesting, so how far from the broiler?

If you have a Weber kettle, get a Kettle Pizza instead.

I did this research 3 years back and I ended up getting a Blackstone pizza oven. I don't want to hijack your thread, but it's a good outdoor pizza oven, if you have a patio where you can use it. It runs off of propane.
Here a few pics.

I second this. After using the Pizza Kettle for a year + and never quite getting the consistent results I wanted. The Blackstone is really great. It took a few runs, but I was able to crank out a dozen pizzas for a party last month.

How about the flavor with just propane? One of my favorite aspects of these is the wood-fired flavor.

I was very apprehensive of just propane, but I don't miss the "wood" smoke flavor. That thing gets hot enough that you get the right amount of char that creates a similar smokey result. Originally I thought about doing a modification to hold a chunk of wood in there as well, but I think it would be a huge waste of time based on the great results.

For $300 just do it on a Weber.

Thanks for your information. You have me intrigued.
Last question. The Uuni gets REALLY hot. Infrared temp scans show 700+ easily.
I'm wary with propane and the ability for it to get that high and cook pizzas in under 2 minutes.
How high can you get the Blackstone/Propane? The FAQ section on its website shows 350/400 on the temp gauge?
That doesn't seem right.

I agree. It gets a char flavor as opposed to natural wood flavor. Also it gets very hot on the stone...I launch my pizza when my IR measures the stone at 825F. It can get over 900F. Pay no mind to the temp gauge on the front of the oven. It is useless. Just point the IR at stone and you'll see it climbing rapidly to well beyond what you need. It's like a small jet engine. I don't think I have ever actually left a pizza on for 90 seconds before it's done.
Here is another suggestion...Google the pizza party or pizza party 2 oven. It's outdoor and uses wood. It seems to be very popular as well.
Here is a picture of the char I achieved on a sausage, mushroom, and onion pizza I made. This was raw sausage. As you can see it cooked in less than 90 seconds and had a good smoky flavor.

I let it preheat for 10-15 minutes on a medium heat. I learned NOT to cook at full temp. My IR showed in excess of 850. I carbonated a few crusts until I fought the temptation to keep it fully cranked while cooking. I wasn't in the market for it, but it popped up on SlickDeals.com one day for $209 via Amazon. I pulled the trigger and would not regret having paid full price.

Great stuff guys.
Are you both making your own dough?

I do. Well, I should say my wife does. I'm pretty sure she uses the Ken Forkish method. We've done them all at some point. Caputo flour, Peter Reinhart...etc. The one she landed on now is the bee's knees. The book is called "Flour Water Salt Yeast: The Fundamentals of Artisan Bread and Pizza"

I have not made mine yet. I pick mine up at Whole Foods and have also bought some from Dominicas in New Orleans and Dough in San Antonio and put them in the freezer for future use. I finally bought my first stand mixer in August, so I do plan to start making my own dough. I have all the books also. The Pizza Bible, Pizza Alba Pezone, and Flour Water Salt Yeast should be in your library.

Compares the two mentioned plus the Roccbox. It’s twice the price but the upside is that it can cook a multiple of food and it transports fairly easy.
