Anyone have experiences with this grill?...

Brinkmann Dual Function Charcoal/Gas Smoker & Grill
I like the idea of having the option of grilling with either gas or charcoal on any given day, even if the overall surface area is compromised to facilitate both. I've read reviews on it and most seem to be very positive, so I thought I'd ask the experts here. I originally saw it on sale today while leaving Albertson's for $250, and Home Depot has it listed at $270.
I know that most of the comments on the numerous "Which Grill Should I Get?" TD threads advocate Webers and top of the line grills. If I knew it would be in a permanent setting, I'd have no problem getting a $1,500 setup, but this is just something to play with in the meantime.
Anyone have experience with this one? Thoughts?

I have one, no complaints at all. The gas side is great. The charcoal side is fine too, but I prefer to use my weber kettle if I'm going charcoal. I got the duo first, then got the kettle primarily for tailgating since this one is such a pain in the arse to haul around.
Gets hot really quickly and the propane lasts quite a while, even when I use it often.
ETA: Sorry, I didn't read your post well enough. What I have is the Char-griller Duo; this one looks really similar. Still, having both units in one is nice.

Thanks P. They do look very similar. The only thing that I'm hesitant about is losing grill space. I like to be able to move chicken off to a non-direct heat side so that there are no flare ups from the drippings, and this grill may limit that due to a smaller surface on either side.
Where did you get yours?

I'm not impressed with that one. Only 24,000 BTUs and one gigantic lid. I can't help think that every time you lift that lid, the weaker 24,000 BTUs ability will be compromised.
After further review, I probably was looking at the grill that Politiceaux has, since I saw it at Albertson's, and says that it's only available at Lowe's, Kroeger and Albertson's...they look so much alike.

Spend a couple hundred more and get a Weber Genesis. It will last 20 years more than that Chinese Brinkmann/Charbroil stuff.

I have inherited my dad's char grill duo and I am really impressed....the gas side heats up very quick and very little flare up...the burners make constant temp easy to maintain...the charcoal side is also very well laid out with an adjustable charcoal rack....and I like the fact I can start my chimney of charcoal on the outside burner...a thermometer on each grill is a nice touch and a huge slide out tray for the grease is very helpful....all in all a great grill and I think I paid about 300 for it when I bought it for dad...I'm still learning the fine points but the grill is very user friendly....don't know how they could build it for 300.

I've had one for about two years now. It's awesome! I use the charcoal side more, but it comes in handy to have the gas option. The only way to go for me from now on.
