do they grow well in our climate?

I grow them almost every year. They produce very early for me and do well until I get tired of picking them. I may have some pictures on my phone...hang tight...

I get my seeds from Baker's Creek Seeds AKA RareSeeds
I have gotten them from Trade Wind Fruits as well, but TWF kind of burned me a bit this year. Several of my pepper varieties do not appear to be as advertised.
The shishitos are the first peppers I pick each year. They seem to produce for a long time and copious quantities. I frankly get tired of them, but look forward to the first dozen servings each year. I've dehydrated and turned them into powder before.

I'm not certain. I tend to stick with my seed starting/planting cycle each year. You may well be able to get them growing and producing for you this late.

I planted mine about this time last year. Did alright. I didn't stay on top if watering them though.

I do notice they get tougher as the heat climbs. That may be partially my fault though. The earliest ones get picked fast. Later in the summer as they are growing faster, they are likely more mature by the time I harvest. I also notice the heat seems to bring out more heat in them. It's always a bit of Russian roulette with them though. Every 12th one or so is much hotter than the rest.

Tsunami tempura fries them on one of their apps and it's so damn good

quote:I'll have to give that a shot. I blister them in hot oil in a skillet and salt them almost exclusively. Really great, fast and simple side. Tempura would liven things up for sure.

Blister them in a non stick and toss in a shredded hard cheese and some rice wine vinegar.
