Anyone ever use Tony's Instant Roux?

Making a Chicken and Sausage Gumbo and was considering using this. I live in GA and can't get Saviou's.

Has anybody used it, if its no good I'll just go the old fashioned route.

I don't use it but we have a friend that does. Surprisingly, she turns out a pretty good gumbo with that stuff.

I tried in once and it tasted nothing like a real roux. More like a brown gravy. Maybe I did something wrong.

I use this as a thickener only. Savoies in the jar is good.

I use it for making gravy, it works pretty well for that.

They have a powdered brown gravy mix that comes in a similar container.

Tried it once. That was like 7 years ago. There is a reason it was once and 7 years ago.
