Wondering how it worked out

You mean like Zatarains's powdered crab boil?
It contains a shitload of salt. I'm sure too much to make it an effective rub. I've never used it as a rub. But, boiling meat in it along with some celery and onions and lemons and garlic a few other things, then grilling is for a char and extra flavor is absolutely delicious though.

I wouldn't do it just because of sodium content.

I know someone who rubs some on chicken before flouring and frying it. He swears it's legit.
I've never tried it.

I've used it. With this stuff, less is more. i made the mistake of using a whole bag of Louisiana Crab boil on three racks of ribs and absolutely ruined them.

I went through a phase where I was using it for almost anything.
I used it cooking my scrambled eggs, steaming my veggies, grilling chicken and burgers, and using it to eat with my boiled eggs
It's not so bad, just very high in sodium

I use it when I'm boiling pasta or rice... use very little, like people have said it has a lot of sodium and a little pinch goes a long way.
