Her place doesn't look like a restaurant - more like a welding shop.

Yes, I have. It’s more of a catering facility in an old building, rather than a proper restaurant. She only cooks by prior arrangement for groups. She is quite elderly, and is helped by a couple of her granddaughters these days. It is very typical old school bayou Cajun cooking,

It is an old welding shop. Her sons. He owns the restaurant at Port Fouchon, can’t remember the name.
Granddaughter runs it. Bring your own booze. She’ll cook for 40 but not multiple parties. She has a large European clientele that visit yearlywhich is why not a lot of people around here have heard of her until the last few years. Makes a good shrimp gumbo.

For many DTB, eating at Alzinas is the culinary equivalent of eating Sunday lunch with grandma. Lima beans cooked w shrimp, smothered okra and tomatoes, gumbo, jambalaya, etc. All tasty, but it’s essentially bayou home cooking...not the sort of thing most locals need someone else to cook for them. I’ve been to rehearsal dinners, parties, etc there over the years. She’s a lovely lady, very kind....but decor/atmosphere is utilitarian late 70s, complete with a brown paneled foyer.

You say it like it's a bad thing. I'd vote my Maw Maw and Paw Paw as the best cooks I know DTB, but the 2 times I've been to Aliza's have been great experiences.
