This would be kind of a hobby bucket list event for me but at $325 a ticket, I think I might stick to watching his (free) YouTube videos.
He just posted a link for his first BBQ event in over a year and its sold out within an hour. Limited to 40 people... not a bad way to make a quick $13,000.

Because who doesn't want to go to Church on a Sunday?
Hardcore BBQ - Brisket, Beef Ribs, Pork Ribs & Pork Belly + breakfast upon arrival, beer & a smoked dessert as we head to the Flagship BBQ Supply Shop.
You will get to sample each of the meats that Matt teaches. We will head over to our brand new flagship store following class for a special shopping experience.
We will cover everything from meat and wood selection to cooking. All questions will be answered. This class will be cooked on various smokers including an offset stick burner, pellet & kamado grills, but the concepts can be applied to all grills and smokers. Matt will be teaching time and temperature, so you can replicate this on whatever type of smoker you own. Questions will be answered for all types of smokers and grills!
Hosted at our historic Waxahachie home built in 1896. We are limiting this event to 40 folks so it's an intimate class. Get your tickets quick as this class is will sell out fast.
You are welcome to bring your own cooler of adult drinks. Soft drinks, water and a limited amount of Miller Lite will be provided.
Covid 19 - Masks are not required but encouraged. You will sitting next to other individuals. Attendance is based on your personal risk preference and decision. Matt has received his vaccinations.

A lot of places are doing these now. I know Smiley’s and Panther City also started.

Why would they not, its the easiest way to make some $$, plus there are no secrets out there anymore. Might as well teach some others the passion of smoking and meat and make some $$. Plus you never know who you will meat (get it) and these events.

I follow him on IG and saw he got vaccinated today (or recently). I’d love to do one of his classes but for now will stick to YouTube/IG and buying his rubs
ETA he’s also a big pellet guy so I’m sure that will trigger the baby back stick burner only bitches on here

Same. As was said previously in the thread there's no secrets anymore. Pretty much every tip and technique you can find on YouTube anymore but drinking some beer, learning bbq from one of the well known guys in the business and meeting some folks sounds like a good way to spend a Sunday..especially after a year of lockdowns. Chef Tom from All Things BBQ is one of my favorites and does these type of classes but I don't think I'll ever make it up to Witchita.
ETA: If you ever watched the BBQ Pitmasters show, Matt Pittman was on it. I watched the show and years later ran across his YouTube videos but never remembered he was on the show until he mentioned it.

I took a class offered by the BCA when I first started competing. It primarily focused on timing, presentation, judging, etc.
I learned some good things that have helped improve my scores.
However, if you are not planning to compete and just want to improve your backyard game, spend the $325 on meat and beer and practice the techniques you watched on YouTube.

Well, heck.
I was considering doing his April class with a buddy but I thought it wasn't open for registration until this Thursday.

I saw a rib advice topic on here that I thought about commenting on, but got a little gunshy when I saw the professionals handing out down votes like hand sanitizer.
