Anybody else use the Digiq by BBQ Guru?

I got one from my children for Christmas. I have used it twice on my Weber Kettle, and so far, it has been outstanding at maintaining a steady temp. I wish they had sprung for the wifi version, but unless this thing breaks, I'm really going to enjoy the hell out of it.

I’ve had one for about 6 years or so for my BGE. Back then I didn’t think the WiFi was worth it. Now I would absolutely get the WiFi.

I have a CyberQ Cloud on a gravity fed smoker. The Wifi is nice when a network is available but it's not necessary to run the unit.
The most important aspect of using the BBQ Guru is the location of your pit temp probe. Once you figure that out, the only thing you'll have to monitor is fuel.

Have the original digiQ and the first “cloud” version. Used to smoke tons of food back when my son was at LSU and we were tailgating every game. Now, I most often use the digiQ as the web based is not as convenient to get up and running.
As stated before, once you get the feel for placement of probes, it’s a very easy and painless process. I will say the web based one is great for overnight cooks and getting some sleep. BTW, the current cloud based version is on sale, and it ends tonight. Cyber q $255

I got myself the WiFi version for Christmas. I’ve only got to use it a couple times so far but it has worked great. It’s a website to control it and save your cooks, which so far seems like a pain in the arse. I’ll have to figure that out some more I guess but as of now I wish I would have just got the normal version

Been using one for years with my primo XL. I have the wifi version and its nice to roll over during the night and check the pit temp and probe temp on my phone.

Do you have any suggestions on where to put it?

my buddy had one of these on his stick burner, but i wonder if it wouldn't work as well on a vertical gas smoker?
i'm no scientist but wouldn't the fan kicking on and circulating outside air drop the internal temp of the smoker to whatever you set the Digiq for?

When the fan blows on the fire it causes the fuel to burn, same as if you have ever had a camp fire and blew on it to get it started... itll kick the fan on the get the fire "stoked" then turn off when the temp gets up... rinse and repeat.
