Any thoughts on the old Kevin's at Diversion Canal?

Kevin's sold out to become an Italian restaurant now...but has anyone eaten there yet? Just tried them but waiting for your opinion...

I miss the crab trap entree. That was some good eating.

As I said, I just tried this restaurant and I will have to visit once more before I dismiss them completely. I had the Swamp Platter which was fried catfish, shrimp, oysters & a crab cake. The fish was cut very thick and did not quite taste like the catfish that I am accustomed to. Granted, it was not nasty or anything...it just tasted different. Shrimp and oysters were average. The crab cake had this weird batter that peeled off the cake in chunks and the taste just didn't say "crab". Lots of fries made the plate appear fuller than it was.
Like I said, I wish to visit once more and have the Spaghetti & meatballs. After all, the new name is Italian.
The music was good by a local pair of young men.

I have not eaten there since they sold and changed names but live only a couple of miles away and their reputation among the locals is not positive

Everyone that has mentions the red sauce to me talks about it being overly sweet

Bad experience on my first time going to DiCarlos. Won’t be running back anytime soon.
