Can’t promise it won’t make you spray but Costa Messa and Republic of The Rio Grande in McAllen were both really good. McAllen has most of the standard chains if you want something familiar.

Just finished two years in Harlingen, save your appetite until you get to SA, HOU or Louisiana.

Santa Fe Steakhouse (and it's not the chain one). Go in the evening. Sit outside by the fireplace. Yes, I know it's hot ... but it's actually shaded and creates a good environment

Santa Fe

Where is S when you need him?

Delia’s for tamales
Santa Fe for steak
Salt for upscale and good food
Kiki’s for a ton of cheap Mexican (warning sausage = hotdogs)

Roosevelt’s for a decent bar
Office for dive bar

Yea bro it hardly ever rains here go figure

Sounds like they got you by 281 and nolana. If you got a car head toward 10th st. North side of McAllen got all kinds of stuff. Kumori GOAT sushi. Otherwise you can uber around. If you have some BR nostalgia theres a Mr. Gatti’s close by.
