I'm heading there this weekend and wondering what I need to look for.

Already gonna keep my eye out for Tropicalia. What else you got?

Orpheus
Cherry Street
Three Taverns Belgian White IPA

Not a fan of Terrapin since they discontinued their Hop Hash IPA.

My sauce just came back from Athens, it's not, but they brought me back some stuff from Orpheus Brewing:

Life.Death.Life.Truth
Peace.War.Truth.Lie
The Ferryman

Also read a blurb today about an up and coming brewery in Atlanta called Scofflaw Brewing. Their brewmaster used to work at Russian River, sounds like a lineage worth checking out.

Creature Comforts has a nice seasonal porter called Koko Buni. Not sure you can find it ourtside Athens though.

Check out Red Brick, Monday Night, Wild Heaven and Red Hare breweries offerings

Man, you guys really came through. I'm going to have to bring a bigger cooler. Mad props.

Assuming you guys are still in the area... Is Green's still the best place to stop off? I'm actually just passing through to the NE side of town (OTP), so the greens right off 85 on Buford highway is usually the perfect balance of convenience and selection for me.

Lawrenceville area

I would usually take 285. But straight 85 isn't too far out of the way, and leads me past green's.

I haven't been to Green's since craft beer was a thing. Tower is near to there if you don't find what you are looking for at Green's.

If you can afford it, a 40 minute ride north to Athens and Five Points Bottle Shop should have plenty of CC Tropicália & other Georgia specialties.

I went to a Kroger in Athens a few months ago and was able to purchase two cases of Trop at $9.99 a six pk.

The guys over at CC wanted exclusive distribution of their beer to remain in Athens. They agreed to allow market surplus to be distributed in the ATL market. It's kind of counterintuitive the way they distribute their product. Beer leaves the brewery in Athens for Atlanta & then is distributed back into the Athens market. Makes me scratch my head.

I don't know about Buford, but do know you've got a large place off Satellite Boulevard and 85, and off Peachtree Industrial there's a World of Wine that's got a great beer selection, as well as Monks @141 (formerly Pop's) on 141 (parrallel to Peachtree Industrial) in Cumming. You've also got Bottom's Up and Maxi's in John's Creek. I'm sure there's at least one good spot in Duluth, as well. Lawrenceville, even in spite of the growth, I'm really not so sure.

If you're into IPA's, one that I haven't seen mentioned is 3 Taverns - A Night on Ponce. This is my favorite local IPA.

Straight to the Ale - Unobtanium isn't local but it's a great barrel aged old ale that you can find in Atlanta in case it isn't available to you at home.

Creature Comforts does excellent work. Tropicalia is legit. Work your way toward Snellville/Loganville and you should be able to find some but may wanna call first.

Orpheus has some good saisons.

Wrecking Bar downtown is great, Mexican Siberius Maximus is world class.

Westbrook and Lost Abbey are pretty easy to find on the shelf along with some Evil Twin.
