I'm really not sure Eagle Rare is different enough to justify the higher price tag. Has never distinguished itself enough from a taste standpoint from its little brother. Just my IMO. I know it's aged longer but I don't seem to ever notice any more complexity.

Seems to be a good thing in Auburn. Every other store sells Four Roses Single for 45+. I've even seen it for 49.99. They both also have huge selections.
Yes, because they have to buy it from the ABC store. Instead of the other stores being able to buy direct, they have to buy it after the ABC markup and then try and make their own profit. The ABC stores are state run, they aren't a private entity. Go to GA or TN, The Four Roses Single Barrel is like $30-$35 there. Those states have 3x the selections we do and are all much cheaper.
The ABC stores are awful.

Four Roses Single has always been around $45 at the ABC stores near me in Bham. When they even have it. It seems it's always sold out. I found a bottle of their FR Single Private Collection at a liquor store in Georgia last year for $32. It's the best bourbon I've ever had. Better than Pappy.
Elijah Craig is my favorite "cheaper" bourbon. But its price has gone up as its popularity has increased. Used to be $19, but it was almost $30 last time I checked.

I love the single as well. Don't know if I'd say it is better than Pappy, but it is very good.
I just wish Alabama would wake up to how big a scam the ABC board is.
