Going for first time Friday for anniversary, tips, pointers, what’s good? Always heard the large annex is where you want to sit, true?

What about where to sit, does that matter?

Went a couple months ago. The place was dead. The portions were small. The food was expensive and the server was abysmal.

Try to get a handjob from your old lady under the table. Those are the best.

The 1840 room is the best or the Rex room. Food is not great

Ask for Chetta or Charles to be your waiter/ The oysters rock are the original recipe , no spinach. Oysters foche and soufflé potatoes with bearnaise to dip them in are all great starters. For entree ask Chetta or Charles what looks good that day.

As a alternative-
GW Fins will customize your special occasion with a imprinted menu left on your reserved table. In addition to being one of the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans.
Cheers!

Went to Antoines once, food was amazing. I got some kind of steak that was a special, it was great. Baked Alaska for dessert is a must.

If it isnt too late, find somewhere else to eat. But, a drink at the Hermes Bar and an order of souffle potatoes is a good idea.

Not the best meal you will ever have, but it's a fun experience. Apps are good: oyster dishes (I like the oysters foch), puffed potatoes (get some bearnaise on the side), crabmeat ravigote and shrimp remoulade. I always get the alligator soup and a fish dish for my entree (pompano with crabmeat and soft shelled crab when in season). For dessert, the baked alaska makes for a nice presentation.
Again, the food is not going to wow you, but they do a good job with the classics. The front room facing St. Louis is the only room I avoid for dining. I think any of the others are fine. Being your first time, ask your waiter for a tour.

Is there a way to avoid front room? I’ve heard don’t use the front entrance, go through the side door to the left of that

Just call and ask that they not place you in the front.
