We would like a nice resturant easy off, easy on from the interstate (from Memphis). Any suggestions?

Newks, Char, Julep, Majestic Burger are all right off of the interstate.

Add Nicks on Old Canton just N of Lakeland three lights W of I-55 -- in funky Fondren. Might want to check to see if they are open on Monday. LINK

I don't really consider Walker's "right off" the interstate, but it is def worth going to. The char-grilled oysters are great!

Julep is closer and very good....I think Walker's is a real gem though...worth the extra 3 minutes.

Alladin is a great middle eastern place right there as well. Second behind Lebanon's (NOLA) IMO.

Juleps, get the fried chicken breast. Don't remember what the name was on the menu but it was the best fried chicken I have ever eaten in my life. Menu said it made the top 10 in the country on the USA today list (or some sort of big list).

Kiefers is also very good although it is a little off the interstate.

Julep fried chicken is too sweet for my taste (they use honey on it), but to each his own.

Their brunch is fantastic though. The shrimp toast is on point :guyfieri:

Yeah I have been for two occasions. One was for dinner and the other was for a wedding party in which we rented it out.

The cheese fritters are great. Against my better judgement, I got the chicken & waffles w/ George Dickel Syrup. The chicken & Waffles were fine, but the syrup tasted like straight bourbon. Not great.

Nick's is next on my list.

Mint was after that....but I will see when the time comes. There are plenty of good places in jackson I have yet to try.

Nick's is good:

Right now my top 5 in Jackson would be:

Walker's
Tico's
The auditorium
Shapley's
The Mayflower

I really wanted Fuze to open in Colony Park. It was a sushi and martini bar, but I guess it became a victim of the recession. It's been in limbo for over a year now.

The auditorium

Last time we were there it had just opened like a day or so before so we avoided it.

We ended up at hammil's after reading some mixed reviews on Creshales. Hammil's was a part of her childhood she wanted to show me.

I've never eaten at Hamil's. But i've heard good things. it was a little out of the way (~20 minutes) from Millsaps, so I never got the chance to go. I may check it out next time i am up there.
