LP is in the very Northeast corner of the state. Waterproof is North of Vidalia. I would say it is a hour or maybe an hour and a half drive between the two.

FWIW, They have another protection levee that will hopefully protect the town. This picture shows water coming into an area known as "The Bend" which is mostly farmland with a few buildings/structures.

How sad my Grandfather used to farm some of that very land when he was in Lake Providence

Ok before you people start feesking out it should be known that that isn't the miss_river levée. Its a ring levée a ways away from real levée.

people knew water was going to top that particular levée from simply river level and elevation of it.
If you are gonna make a post like this, include details that are a tad relevant.

I know nothing about LP or their Levee structure and completely understood what the OP meant. Maybe you just suck @ reading comprehension?

man that sucks. it just looks really weird. guess its where the levee is at different heights. but on the far side, it doesn't look like the water is up to the levee. maybe tis the way the ground is there and the water just kinda blends in

Good for you, but I bet 75% of the people out there who read something like this think the real levee was being overtopped. This is exactly the kind of picture/video that the national news would run with and try to freak people out.

I don't know about that. The words "old levee" made it pretty clear to me also and I also don't know anything about that area.

I guess.
I thought people would have figured out the issue about the Morganza Spillway vs the control structure by now though.
