I remember that barge sinking. I was fifteen at the time any the city of Baton Rouge was told to evacuate while they raised the sunken chlorine barge. My family and neighbors didn't evacuate but the majority of the city did.

Yep, to bust up tows.......

This tow hit the bridge then some of the barges hit the old Kaiser Dock. This is what cut into the void tanks.

WTF are you talking about?? Anytime a barge hits a bridge it has to reported to the USCG..tows dont just hit a bridge and get away with it....either the barge is damaged and the off charter surveys will discover it or some other tow will report it.....tows hitting bridges may not be uncommon but dont act like it happens all the time without being reported...and when it happens it the whole river knows.

I know what hes saying, I'm just saying that its reported, sometimes its reported to the newspaper, just not newsworthy for them. With the high water, everything with the water is reported and carried.
When a tow comes around North of the bridge, that area is know for swirls and eddies. I've seen a many of tow boat get in trouble.

I agree with what you're saying but tows hitting bridges and tows rubbing or bumping bridges is two different things.
I have a lot of equipment, i.e. barges and boats working up and down the river as well as East/West and anytime there is a "run in" with a bridge, we all hear about it....so to say that something like what has been happening the past week or so, happens all the time is a bit of an overstatement.
But yes, there are some instances that are not just newsworthy just like when there is an accident or a small oil spill offshore.

Didn't say it wasn't.

Over a time frame, the bridge has been hit, but like I said, not newsworthy.

But you're saying everything gets reported to the USCG?
I know many docks have added cameras, over the years, just for these things and other (Security, etc).

Right........rubbing is still reported to the CG but unless a barge sunk (like today) or barges were on the loose (like today and last week) the media wont pick it up. High water or no high water
