All the Adobe programs are on LSU's computers, so I've been fooling with it while I don't have shite else to do on campus. Through LSU you can buy Adobe packages for like 60% off, still $350 or so bucks. 
Think I'm going to go on ahead and get it once I get a new laptop. The one I own now couldn't support it very well.
I think a lot of these guys use other free downloaded programs. Gimp?

Most programs provide keyloggers and very detailed instructions on installing in a easy to follow txt file. I've never had a problem with registering when properly following the instructions provided with a torrent. Use fake names and you're good to go.

That's all well and good for GETTING it... But unless you configure it right or get lucky with whatever serial number you use... you run the risk of getting popped by the software company the moment it tries to update or connect with Adobe in any way. You don't want to be on that blacklist. -This.

You don't need photoshop. Download one of the many free programs that have similar features.
I currently use Paint.net (website: getpaint.net) It has everything you will ever need to get started. The trick with this program is to download the dozens of user plug-ins that are available, which brings in a ton of various effects into the program.
You can also get GIMP (weird name but powerful program as well.
