I don't know. I get green screen effects off the internet and key out the green screen in After Effects. You can't pull a color key in Photoshop so I doubt you can do it Gimp. You could do a color range select, but you would have to do it frame per frame which would take an eternity. Get your hands on After Effects. I can't preach it enough. If you are gonna make gifs, then this program is the shite. Nothing you can't do.
