Why is everyone so high on Monte Ball?

Dude sucked last year. I realize he's the #1 RB there by default, but being a late first round seems a little high.
Is there any way he'd really be a better grab than an elite receiver?

The second he fumbles it's the CJ Anderson show

Wouldn't say he sucked. Thought he played well towards the end.
What backs behind him would you feel confident taking him?

I wouldn't say he sucked.
He managed to rush for 560 yards (4.7 YPC) and 4 TDs to go along with 20 receptions in what was a pretty shaky start to his career. He had fumbling issues (which ran in contrast to his career at Wisconsin), but started seeing a heavier workload late in the season.
Saw close to 10 carries per game and averaged over two receptions over the final eight games (regular season and postseason).
I wouldn't touch him in the first round. That might be a bit high, but he will have a lot of open lanes and opportunities out of the backfield in that Denver offense.

As a Ball owner last year, he would've been very frustrating if I didn't take him so late in my draft.
Guy showed potential at the end of last year. I don't think he is worth a late first or early second, but could warrant late second in a PPR with Moreno gone.
Just look at the year Knowshown had. Unless your worried about big bad Ronnie Hillman taking his touches, Ball could be quite the catch (if/when he learns to pass block).

Well, yeh. He was a backup to a top-5 back.
Christine Michael was a pain in the arse, too.

Way I see it, Moreno is an average back and he excelled in that offense. I believe that who ever is the lead back will do well in that offense. I dont see it as an individual thing, its more of a system thing.

Played pretty good when he was given touches later in the season. Any RB that doesn't frick up will be able to at least trip into the endzone a half dozen times due to the offense he is on.

still tons of unknown with him and I've seen him going in the first round. People are just assuming he'll get Moreno's production and then some. He still has fumbling and pass protection issues, which are quick ways to get in Peyton's dog house.

Too much risk for a 1st or early 2nd Rd pick.
He has potential to be a top 3 PPR back in that offense, or he could bust.
Don't draft potential when you can get a safe top 3 WR or QB.
You can't win your league with a first Rd pick, but you can lose it it's a bust.

I agree. I just can't get on board Ball at the price he's going for.
He did look good at the end of the season, that I'll admit. But a late 1st/early 2nd? Nah bra. That's Brandon Marshall territory.

I don't buy him either. John Fox has always favored veteran RBs in Carolina and Denver. Don't see him having a breakout year. Look for him to split time if anything. Plus he isn't the greatest at picking up the blitz.

Little bit of hyperbole. Stewart was very good his second year and DWilly also had a solid season before breaking out in year 3.

This isn't a 40 yard dash; he can get better in that area.
Are players not allowed to work on pass protection away from the actual games?

People are so in love with Leveon Bell and Eddie Lacy. Ball was more impressive on the field than both of those guys once Ball got playing time
I think Ball is going to be a stud.

Not sure I could take Ball before Lacy and be comfortable with it, but I absolutely could take Ball before Bell and sleep well at night.

Did you just link me to an article from last year?
You said Fox doesn't play young backs -- which semi-right in that he doesn't trust rookie backs, evidenced by the year old link you posted.
What the frick does that have to do with second-year running back Montee Ball?
