Feels gross, but I might go with Wentz. Tua has the better weapons, but I think they're going to depend on gamescript. It's nice to see Tua is capable of a performance like that, but he also only threw 1 TD in Week 1 and that was plenty for them to win comfortably.

Wentz is averaging 43.5 pass attempts through two games. Tua had 50 attempts, but only 33 in Week 1, so that puts him at 41.5 attempts/game, which is not far behind Wentz, but I think that 50 attempts is going to be an outlier. Just feels like Washington is gonna be in throwing gamescripts more often than Miami

I don’t understand using up a spot for a 2nd QB. Maybe it’s just me

If I have a top 8 qb, I won't draft a backup. If I wait really late in the draft, I may draft two less consistent guys and play matchups. I'm sure there are plenty of teams that are doing just that with these two guys.

Tua for a backup by a mile. He just showed you his ceiling is QB1 on the week. I believe he had a QB1 last year as well. He finally is healthy with weapons.

What is your starters bye week?

I had Herbert last year and grabbed Tua for his bye week bc of the matchup. I believe that was his QB1 week last year. Tua with way more upside.

Every league is different. What if you have 18 roster spots? You would stash a back up QB that just threw 6 TDs.

I have Lamar and don’t trust to stay healthy.

Same situation. I have Kyler and you best believe I’m rostering a backup QB.

My thought process was two fold.

A) my starter runs the ball a lot, so the injury risk is higher

B) by default there usually aren’t going to be more than 6-8 really good fantasy QBs. I thought Tua would be better than some of the QBs drafted in my league, so I’m denying them the opportunity to really strengthen their team by having him on my bench.

It also gives me a bargaining chip in trades.

I have Tom Brady and I’m about to start trotting out Wentz every week.

Tua all day.

He's not going to throw 6 TD's every week, but McDaniel knows how to help him succeed.

I had burrow and cousins which seem like almost the same qb so I traded burrow to the dak owner for Debo :)

He was just QB20 with like 15 points in Week 1.

Wentz was QB3 and QB5 weeks 1 and 2 (depending on scoring settings)

More goes into it than potential upside. Consistency matters. I agree his weapons, Mike McDaniel, etc. are attractive, but they are a balanced team and play a lot of cupcakes, so don't expect him to throw 50 times every week. Bills this week will keep the game competitive, but their D is stifling. Dolphins still play Jets twice, Steelers, Lions, Bears, Browns, Texans, 49ers (avg. offence, and great defense), Pats again. That's 9 games that are likely to be low-scoring pillow fights. They're not going to need 3-4 TD comebacks in those games.

That being said, it's very possible Tua is still the better choice. Just don't think it's "Tua by a mile".

if you own Herbert this year, you probably should have a back up QB
