With the 44th pick in the 2014 MSB/FSB Draft, the St. Louis Rams select...

Zach Mettenberger, Quarterback out of LSU

Hello Sam Bradford. It is now put up or shut up time. Much like the Jets did with Mark Sanchez last season by drafting Geno Smith, the Rams draft another QB in hopes of getting some consistency from the position. In his first couple of NFL seasons, Bradford has been inconsistent and injury prone. Without a contract extension, it is still unclear whether Bradford will be the team's franchise QB that they envisioned when they drafted him. At the very least, drafting Mett will put some pressure on Bradford to step up. At best, Mett will have some chances to play this season if Bradford were to go down with an injury again. Both QBs are coming off knee surgery, but most reports indicate that Mett is recovering ahead of schedule.

Before going down with the knee injury, Mett was a borderline first round pick. And even with the injury, some experts still have Mett rated highly:

quote:

LSU's Zach Mettenberger is ESPN QBs guru Ron Jaworski's No. 2-rated quarterback in the 2014 NFL draft.
"When you watch him on tape, this guy has an NFL skill set," said Jaws of Mettenberger, who has a big arm but limited mobility and is coming off a torn ACL and MCL. Jaworski observed that Mettenberger has "very similar traits" to Joe Flacco, perhaps ironic because ex-Ravens OC Cam Cameron was LSU's offensive coordinator last season.

Now having drafted Sammy Watkins, Lewan at tackle, and a potential franchise QB, the Rams will likely turn their attention to defense with their upcoming picks.

The Rams and that entire division would be highly intriguing.

I didn't make the first two picks for the Rams, but I like their mock draft a lot.

I like the pick. With that D, the addition of Sammy to go along with Tavon(if he ever plays to his projections)and the restructuring of that OLine, Mett and the Rams could make waves in a few years.

This isnt the Rams from a few years ago. Fisher is a good coach he just ran his course in Tennessee, just like Reid in Philly. There's a new culture there now and they also have one of the best, youngest front sevens in the NFL. Pair that with Mett and Watkins if they play to their potential and you got a pretty competitive team.

with the 45th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft..

The Detroit Lions select.....

Jordan Matthews, WR Vanderbilt

Lions need someone for Stafford to throw to, and to take the pressure off of Megatron. Matthews is one of the SEC best WR ever. He is a big body 6'3 220 and runs a 4.4 40 yard dash. A WR corps of Matthews and Megatron gives the Lions a top set of skill position players.

Damn the Lions are raking in this draft. They probably have my favorite haul of any teams in this mock. If I were a Lions fan I'd be stoked.

The Rams would be a threat in just about any conference other than the NFC West

no, im being dead serious. I'm pretty high on MAtthews and for them to get him in the mid second to pari along with Dennard would be a great first 2 rounds IMO

Round 2, 14th pick.........

Stephen Tuitt, DL, Notre Dame

This is a steal at this point in the draft for the Steelers. Get a first round talent drop to them in a need position. It would be tempting to take Robinson the WR out of Penn State here but there are still plenty of WRs out there. I think with his size and length he fits into the 3-4 the Steelers have established perfectly. Not known for his pass rushing, but known for his containment on the run. Will open up the pass rush lanes for Worilds and Jones.
Edit: just realized he was the recipient of the worst pass ever

LSU WR Jarvis Landry ran a pair of 4.58 forties at the Tigers' Pro Day on Wednesday. Landry also dropped "three to four passes" in what is being described as a "rough" day. This all comes on the heels of a disastrous Combine that saw Landry run a painfully-slow 4.77 forty before dropping out of the drill altogether with a calf problem. He was also significantly shorter than LSU listed him in college. Landry is staring at a slide possibly into the 4-7 round range.

Would be a steal for any team to pick him in that range.

Agreed! People take these damn combine numbers too much into account. Watch the games, he is a gamer period. As a Steelers fan I see it every year, we draft on production unlike the Raiders who draft on 40 times.
