why did Forte go for more than any other RB?

I was laughing the entire draft. And crying because I was not in that conference. If I was, I'd be undefeated no questions asked.

I think you spending so much early actually helped you. You had no choice but to sit back and bargain shop.

Welker, Witten, and Cam really made your team legit

im just glad i didn't get Toulaed all night. you guys were very considerate not upbidding me

you mixed it up..last year you waited on RBs it was so easy to drive up the price on those..papps felt that this year.

I wouldn't have let you get Witten for $6 doe..blee dat.

No shite

I actually think my strategy played out well. I secured AJ and Julio for ~$40 early. Once I got them I was putting the big name WR and RB bids straight to $50. They probably go close to that anyway, but I pretty much set my bargain value on the 2 WRs bc I knew everyone was going to go all in for those studs. I think I has a hand in drivjbg up Cobb Nelson and brown too

Sure man. In my opinion, tho........If you predict those studs to go really high and you have no interest in taking them, why not nominate them for $1 and let people duke it out and spend their money early? That leaves you with the opportunity to outbid owners for guys you want down the road.

this is some arse backwards thinking

You drive the price up quickly, get it up over a certain number you want those guys to spend, without over pricing them of course

why give the people you want spending money an opportunity to get a bargain by starting at $1?

This makes no sense.

Exactly

And I would've taken those guys at $50 if I would have been stuck with them

You can always bid more if people start bidding, but the idea is that you know he will go high. If He doesn't, bid on him at a value if you want.

So by starting McCoy at $1 instead of $40, do you really think there's some chance you would have got him for less?

Let's take Reggie Bush for example. You don't want him so you nominate him for a dollar. Somebody bids $2, then $5. He's still at a great value, so you bid $7. You're still driving up the price and if you get him, you get him at a great value. I got Reggie Bush for $10 that way. I really didn't want him, but he was a good value.

No, it usually never works for Top Tier players, but there's no point to starting a bid for higher than $1, IMO.

You just made the point. Let's say I want Reggie Bush and throw him out there for $8

You just said you don't Bush, but $7 is a great value, so you jumped in there in your draft.

The starting bid potentially kicks you out of the running.

But people who do want Bush will bid higher. You didn't know my max on Bush to begin with. You can try to guess, but you can get screwed that way, IMO.

It drives the people out who aren't high on him. But if they can get him at a discount -- like you did -- then they will remain in the bidding.

That's the point.

Same principle as poker: You want to go head up, and not have five people see the flop (opening bid).

Well, yea, but once it got to my max, I stop bidding. Either way it works out the same. I just don't like running the risk of overspending when I have a chance to get a bargain.

I think poker is not a good comparison. This is more about the value of players.

ETA: And if you constantly nominate for $1, nobody knows if you want him or not.
