And here is where the season gets stupid. And I either have to hold an injured player on my team for the rest of the year or give up one of my favorite players on my team, and give someone a keeper just for nothing on the wire.
That's just dumb.
I say it at this time every year. I think it's fricking retarded that non participating teams are given the ability to sell out, and then just vulture players, amass picks, and essentially be rewarded for losing.
Maybe a solution would be a rule starting next year past a certain point, after a team sells out, they re not allowed to participate in waiver wire/FA pickups. When you say that your season is over, maybe your season should be over.

Or, just add an IR spot next year.

I clamored for that for these exact reasons earlier in the year.
Regardless bit of bad luck. It sucks that I can't even trade him? Or maybe we make a rule similar to a supplemental draft. That a player can be traded from contending to non contending teams for a pick. IE non contending teams can bid on the dropped player for the cost of a draft pick
I just don't see how it's fair that any team should have to give up a keeper with zero compensation or just not be competitive. Or even fairness among the non contenders that that keeper hits the market and just goes to teams based on the waiver wire alone.
ETA: regardless, I know this is not getting solved this year and I'm not pushing for it. But I would really like to address it for NEXT year bc this scenario happens. And it doesn't make sense
