Zach Lowe article on "Finding the Next Demarre Carrol"--limited track record that can become valuable in the right situation:

LINK

Lots of Team Touls lotto tickets mentioned: Solomon Hill, Maurice Harkless (same age as Buddy Hield FWIW), Dwight Powell, Andrew Nicholson.

Because that means the draft has started, which it hasn't.

A lot of owners want to see what happens in FA. No one wants to be the a-hole holding up the draft for days/weeks until they are ready to pick.

There is no reason to rush any of this. Especially with the shite storm that's coming Friday.

The IRL NBA moratorium doesn't end until July 7th.

I'm preaching patience...I see no need to draft now or sooner than planned.

So refresh my memory on the rules here. When a guy gets dropped to add a draft pick, the guy dropped becomes eligible to be picked up when?

Next pick. Anybody in the Pool is elgible. So if someone drops them, they are in the pool.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I forgot if it did. Why wouldn't the player being dropped have to clear a waiver period like anybody else?

I know CJ didn't have to last year, but that seems crazy that the player shouldn't have to clear waivers.

It benefits someone either way. The team with #1 waiver priority or the team with the next pick. I honestly don't think we will see a CJ dropped again, so I don't think we need to change the rules because of it.

It was never really discussed, it's just how I set-up the league initially.

My thought process was guys getting dropped are 1) better than guys already in the pool and 2) an owner my prefer them over a rookie.

It was an attempt to optimize the draft pool and make those 2nd rd picks a bit more valuable.

It worked pretty well outside frat dropping his 5th or 6th best player. Nearly 1/2 the 2nd rd picks were dropped players.

I can guarantee that it won't happen this year.

Well, managing your waiver priority is a strategy in and of itself. So if that rare occasion happens again, I'd think the #1 ww position should get it.

Whatever y'all. I'm not making a big deal of it. I just thought when a player gets dropped, he should have to clear waivers, whenever he's dropped.

I don't like it going to the #1 waiver.

Only thing that HAS to happen is that the person picking immediately drops their player, this way the next person picking is aware of the dropped player.

Case against the #1 waiver getting the dropped player. Lets say it was Gyno who had the #1 waiver bc he knew he was going to lose last year, and never made a waiver claim. This would make it so that he not only gets the first pick, but would also get the next best player dropped.

but that's the reason you choose who you claim or not claim when you're high on the ww. Just bc you're losing, doesn't mean you're not gonna pick someone up in week 16 if you think that player is gonna be a part of your team the following year. That's the strategy of managing the ww.

Gyno didn't know he was gonna win the lottery. Gyno is actually 13th on the wire.

Yea that's a dumb reason

Everyone operates under the same rules for waivers. A smart player who is in 1st place is just as likely to hold their priority waiting for the right player as a last place team.

In the same breath, a last place team is burning their priority the moment a good player comes up in season. It's a dynasty league. Plus there are better players available in season on waivers then there will be in the shite draft pool. Especially since teams have gotten wise and started loading up on potential FAs at the end of the fantasy season

Exactly. I'm holding my position for the playoffs when the playoff teams start dropping good players chasing starts bc of injuries.

I think they should go to waivers

I know lou t and knat agreed based on reading last year's thread. Probably should vote on it

I would agree they should be on waivers. Would make more sense.

Waivers

To me, it's a rookie draft. I'm fine either way, tho

Starting next year, sure.

I stockpiled 2nd round picks because of the potential value they could have.

It's always been dubbed a Rookie/FA Pool draft.

I'll post a vote, if it passes, it will go into effect next year.

I'm sure people will vote based on their pick situation this year.
