team totals use bench stats jake, and you wont get all of those stats, kind of a flawed measuring tool imo

Louie T:

This team looks similar to my TDBL team, so he's probably fricked. Braun and Youk aren't a bad 1-2 punch, but after that its kinda meh.

He's gonna get some K's though in pitching, although he will be lacking in saves.

I get the feeling that Louie had a hard time figuring out which direction he wanted to go in this draft, and wasn't ready to commit to a win-now or a build-a-franchise technique. In the end, that's gonna frick him. He's gonna have a hard time finding 8 strong keepers in 2011 unless he makes some trades or is very active on the FA market.

Not a playoff team.

I thought we were just talking about bats.

I have Verlander....then I need 2 out of Jurrjens, Oswalt, Latos, Ervin to be better than advertised and I will be alright.

First time ever drafting a keeper league with this many teams is weird.

mattz1122:

The first thing that came to mind when I looked at this team is that he must be going for steals and punting homers. That's not necessarily a bad philosophy, if guys like Hamilton, Morneau, Ramirez, and Ibanez can do their part to drive in runs while scoring some of their own. Hamilton and Ibanez are huge question marks, and I'm wary of Morneau after a ho-hum season and the Twins moving into that new park. That might all be bullshite though.

I love Josh Johnson, and Garza is solid. Big question marks with Bedard and Masterson. Arroyo should be a good spot starter. Brett Myers will suck.

If the pieces fall in the right places, this team could make the playoffs. I don't know the owner's tendencies though, so I can't really say.

port you got plenty of steals, but you might need to ship some of them off for some ops and power. i dont like your corner if, mainly bc of their injury risks. i am not an aram fan though, so that might be why i say that

you got lince, but your other guys are not really proven yet. they could very well have breakout years though.

like will said early, i dont think there are really any dominant teams, and thats a sign of knowledgable players and even talent on each team.

i think its all gonna come down to who makes the best in season moves really

If Doumit and Kazmir can bounce back, I could be a playoff contender. Otherwise, I'm screwed.

It is really, really hard to rank now. A lot of teams look close. It's hard to find a "bad" team. So take it for what its worth.

1. Toula
2. Mattz
3. Ron Mex
4. Gyno
5. Nobes
6. Chowds
7. Port
8. BJL
9. Clams
10. Rick
11. SFP
12. Quill
13. louie T

BJL- not bad for a newb. Utley and Wright, nice young guys. I like Werth and McCann. Haren and Cliff Lee, a nice 1-2. Sheets-Lilly-Buerhle to back it up.

Clams- lacks a front line starter, but has some nice potential. I am a big fan of his hitting.

Chowds- did good work. solid lineup and a lot of arms.

Gyno- i like his arms a lot, even without the 2 young guys. He missed on Howard, but has a lot of guys who could hit 25 which will add up.

Louie- i like a lot of his picks, he got some good value. but his last few active hitters are weak IMO. I like his starters, definitely up close to top of league at this point.

Matt- also got a lot of good value. Sizemore, morneau, Hamilton and HanRam, nice core there. Has some great young arms as well, garza, billing, and josh J..

Nobes- did good work with his hitting. Kind of top heavy, but his top 5 guys are prob unmatched. His pitching doesnt do much for me. Verlander is a stud, and has 2-3 "solid guys". not bad overall.

Port- a lot of the same can be said about Ports team. Top heavy with some really good hitters. His UTIL guys dont do much for me though. A potential sleeper or 2 on bench though. Any staff with Lince has a chance, but it goes downhill after that pretty quickly. We'll see what Dice K does.

Quill-Hitting is decent. One too many speed guys for my liking and a lot of ??'s at the bottom. His staff looks good though Cain/Lester/De La Rosa.

rick- hitting looks good on paper, but has some guys with stuff to prove. Dude has 5 good starters though and 3 good closers. His staff looks really good.

Ron- hitting looks very good on paper. Not sure the infatution with Gutierrez. Thought he reached on Beltre and Papi a little high, but it came out good. Howard, lind, MHoll, and Granderson nice core. Pitching has a lot of upside but a lot to prove.

SFP- ya know, its not that bad. He got arguably the best hitter and best pitcher in the MLB in Pujols and Halladay. If Manny stays healthy and Ludwick bounces back, he could at least contend week to week. Has some nice SB guys. Pitching is so-so after Halladay though.

Toula- i look at his team and see quality everywhere. Had a really good draft. Has some players in hard to find positions VMart and Cano. Longo and Butler at corners. And soriano and Matsui were major hauls compared to draft position. Has 6 good starters + Chamberlain.

Nobes:

Dude has some major power in Pena, Hill, Reynolds, and Quentin. Mauer is no slouch either. Drew Stubbs is so overrated it isn't even funny. People have bought into his hype, but when you look at what he is going to max out at in each category, he's nothing more than a 5th OF option, IMO. In other words, he needs help in the outfield.

Pitching is pretty solid. Love Verlander in this format, and I love Latos' potential. I hate Ervin Santana, and I can't figure out why Nobes has such a hard-on for him. His closers are an infirmary, but decent when healthy.

This team isn't really built for the future, but it isn't old either. But, since there are only 8 keepers in this league, he should be just fine.

50/50 playoff chance, although with decent moves (which is bound to happen as active as nobes is), those chances increase.
