The Seahawks have named Deon Butler their starting flanker following the trade of Deion Branch.
Coach Pete Carroll anticipates using a heavy rotation, but Butler will be the starter in all two-receiver sets, and could move to the slot in Seattle's "three wides" look.

Panthers RT Jeff Otah (knee) won't even resume practicing for another 2-3 weeks.
Otah, who had all kinds of injury problems at Pitt, is recovering far slower than anticipated. The Panthers are currently on a bye, but the week off won't allow enough time for him to return.

I saw this, too, and I am equally confused. I know that Harrison was somewhat disgruntled, but otherwise, is either team getting something it didn't already have?

Philly might be getting a short yardage / goal line back.

I'd bet on James Davis, if you really necessary

I don't see a future with Bell, and the staff hates Harrison for whatever reason I don't know.

Hillis is playing hurt, and will likely miss time if he aggravates his injuries against PITT

Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune predicts that Pierre Thomas (ankle) will not play in Week 6.
Duncan is likely reading tea leaves -- the same ones we can read. Thomas still can't practice, and the Saints have shown that they're concerned by signing street free agent running backs and admitting Thomas still has "soreness and swelling" in his ankle. It'd be another missed opportunity for Thomas. The Saints' Week 6 opponent, Tampa, ranks 30th in run defense.

Julius... Really, I might have to grab him

Harrison is smaller than Mccoy believe it or not. They are very similar backs. I think Harrison is just an insurance policy should Mccoy go down. He can do things that Bell can't

Coach Tom Cable confirmed Wednesday that Michael Bush will retain the Raiders' starting tailback job with Darren McFadden (hamstring) due back in Week 6 against San Francisco.
Cable expects McFadden to be active against the Niners, but only as Bush's backup "since McFadden's not 100 percent."

Brett Favre said he would be willing to end his NFL-record 289 regular-season game streak if his elbow continued to inhibit him.
"The zip and stuff is still there," Favre said. "The accuracy was affected (Monday)... I made some good throws, but missed on some that I don't miss on... From that standpoint, I don't want to play just to play."

Sell all Vikes except AP, he's setting the stage for an early re-retirement. Miss game, then see specialist who will suggest that he "hang it up" to avoid permanent damage. And then he can go hide in the shadows(for Medical reasons and not for Perverted ones)

Wearing a jersey, Sidney Rice (hip, PUP) played catch off to the side in Friday's practice.
Not bad considering it's coming just two days after one beat writer predicted that Rice isn't close to returning. He just tossed his crutches this week, so this is perhaps the first positive sign in his rehab. Rice did some "slow speed movements" but had minimal lower body movement while catching passes. He appears to be back on track for a November return

Though Michael Vick (ribs) won't start in Week 6, coach Andy Reid confirmed Friday that he's encouraged by Vick's recovery.
"I'm not going to tell you it's pain free, but he doesn't have the same pain as he had before," Reid said. "It's the improvement that he is making every day. He's going from throwing a little bit yesterday, throwing a little bit more today, taking a handoff." It appears Vick has a good chance to start in Week 7 at the Titans. Kevin Kolb will get the nod this week.

Rookie WR Danario Alexander was given a four-year contract when the Rams signed him off the practice squad in Week 6.
We've never heard of a practice squad player signing longer than a three-year deal. It's pretty clear that the Rams knew they had something big in Alexander, and he immediately met expectations in a four-catch, 72-yard, one-touchdown NFL debut. He'll be the top waiver pickup heading into Week 7.

12 team league owners who were relying on Clayton, and were disappointed with Amendola.....sure

Bradford throws the ball as much as any QB, someone has to get the targets
