you're telling me that if he said I won't budge unless you switch out Shipley for Dahl, you don't still make the deal?

We declined that already, so yes.

The more I look at it, there's no way I could have done that deal without getting back both Swanson and Dahl.

I really wonder how close I was. I'm having penis envy right now.

I think y'all are overvaluing Lester longterm. He could retire when his contract runs up and I wouldn't be surprised

Truthfully we didn't care about Lester that much. It came down to Baez/Rendon for Donaldson. Heyward, Eovaldi and Shipley were expendable. Getting Lester for them was worth it for the sake of adding Donaldson.

I don't think I am. Lester is pretty good and doesn't rely on velocity. He should pitch at a high level for another few years and serviceable there after.

The return package was filled with inconsistent and underachieving talent. If it was centered around Heyward, yuck. Baez has no full time position and how's that K/BB ratio going to work out with full time at bats. Shipley is a back end starter. Rendon is either hurt or underachieving. I wouldn't have taken that package for just Donaldson.

I guess I just may be overvaluing Donaldson here.

You are criminally undervaluing Baez (23) and the value he has in this league. His trade value is of a top 35 dynasty player (that's the offers weve been getting all week).

Rendon (26) was a 1st Rd pick in this league just two years ago.

Heyward (26) is a good flyer/buy low.

Eovaldi and Shipley can be starters in quick time.

Who else was offering him 5 MLB guys all under 26?

i think in the end, the deal will work out for him.

But how do you pay fair market value(or over market value) for guys like Rendon and Heyward?

Will either of these guys ever be standouts again?

even in a 20tm league like this, i couldnt even start Heyward with confidence.

I value Heyward as a throw-in right now. Baez and Rendon were the real gets in the deal. I have no doubt that Rendon will be a factor in the league for years. Baez has tremendous upside, and IDGAF how much he strikes out. You don't get penalized for that shite in this league.

Where does Heyward land when he doesn't suck? This is an outlier thus far

Rendon issue is health

Right. His value will never be lower than it is right now.

That's where I disagree with papz. Heyward wasn't the center piece, it was Baez. Then paired with Rendon, who I would still place bets on to be good, it was no doubt the best offer he got. Especially when he's stated that he's not taking on prospects.

I haven't watched Lester as much as y'all have, but I value him more than T&P does, especially when you're contending and in a league where SP is a high commodity.

Knat took a big bet on Heyward and rolled the dice with Shipley and Eovaldi.

At the end of it all, I believe it was his best offer, and I'm just jelly.

Rendon in his last 162 games has 17Hr and 60 RBi and like a .720 OPS

he's not bad but he's not 1st pick in the draft good either

I love Baez and his position eligibilty is great for this league.

And I feel like that's his floor. Lingering injuries and shite have held him back and disrupted his timing. If he can pull a Kinsler and have a long string of healthy seasons after suffering through unhealthy ones early on, he will be a top ranked IF for years.

That's what I'll miss with Baez. He's going to be eligible everywhere but C. That's so key with small benches.

Brad Miller is underrated thats going to have to fill that spot for our stretch run. That and Schimpf staying serviceable.

Rendon is going to lose 2B elig at this rate too. He hasnt played there all year and likely wont
