I was really only joking with Boo just now. I sent him Musgrove & Ordorizzi and he sent me Estrada in an earlier trade this season that also involved other players. Just messing with him that we could reverse that part of the trade.

I don't think they really value Espinoza like they do those guys. 18 yr old pitcher, who knows what happens. I was expected to be impressed by his numbers but they are pretty meh

They're signing Groome tonight.

Same age as Espinoza, probably feel same upside.

So, you replace one 18-year-old pitcher with another. Makes all the sense.

You are right that all that matters is winning, but they won under Theo and Cherington who are different types of GM's. I think all are good at what they do.

I'm surprised it only cost Espinoza. It's going to take him 3-4 years to reach the majors and another few years after that to get fully acclimated and produce at the level people think he can become... if that ever happens. Whether Pomeranz flops or not in the AL, it's a good move by the Red Sox. Not a bad move by the Padres, just think they could could have gotten another piece.
