So we've moved up from "being collecting fees" to "beginning the two-round slow draft".

Doesn't matter much to me, I just find it funny that everyone is in a race to get the draft started... then we can sit and stare at our rosters for another almost two months before games start.

Naw. That time between the draft and Opening Day is when I work on the preseason predictions and farm rankings.

I'll pay before 2/5 at some point. But it won't be today so everybody keep their pants on.

If this were a redraft where MLB players were being chosen, I would never be in favor of having it this early because you wanna see who wins position battles in spring training. This is a first year player/international signing draft though. Nothing is going to change with any of the players in the pool between now and opening day.
