But the Falcons need to do something, right? Call Le'veon?

They're trying to rebuild the culture with a new staff and front office. Known locker room cancer Lev Bell is the last guy I would expect to get a call.

I think Davis and the two UDFAs (Hawkins, Huntley) will battle it out. They'll look for a longer term solution next offseason.

They won't admit it, but the front office knows they aren't winning this season so spending FA money on another RB is kind of useless. I expect a 5-12ish kind of season from the Falcons and then look for them to make a nice jump in 2022.

Why? Mike Davis is a capable RB1.

Meh. With his sixth team. One 100-yard rushing game in six years. 8 TDs last year.

Not a resume that wows.

Not really

He can handle the workload for a game or 2, but not for a season

He’s a JAG

people gave me shite for dropping him in a dynasty league.

Does he have value? Yes but i had others i'd rather keep than a 28 YO JAG

And yet none of that really matters in fantasy. He was RB12 last season in PPR without doing anything spectacular.

He will catch passes, fall into the endzone 10 times, and will easily surpass 1k from scrimmage if they don’t add any help and he stays healthy. He’s not a home run hitter but his forced missed tackle metrics are elite. He can get the job done

He’s a RB2 for sure if he plays 14, 15 games

Who did you keep over him?

There’s a big difference from being a JAG and dropping him

He’s going to get volume on a better than average offense

Mike Davis is underrated. He is a legit RB1 for a team(there aren't 31 better running backs), and I expect Hawkins to spell and get some 3rd down work.

There is a stat for carries per broken tackle.
Mike Davis led the league last year at 7.9
Only 9 backs in league were under 10 carries per broken tackle.
Average 2.4 yards after contact.
5th in broken tackles last year even though he was 20th in attempts and had a 84% catch percentage on 70 targets.

He's a better runningback that what Gurley was for Falcons, better than Bell is currently, and better than anything available in free agency.

Not saying hes a fantasy RB1, but he will produce and be a viable RB2/Flex

Let’s not forget how bad the Falcons OL is..

I’m not touching him unless it’s at an extreme value.

Fantasy Pros has him as RB#24 and Overall #65. I'd say that's good value.

Still on the Mike Davis subject,

Today's SI top 200 has him listed at RB22 and 49 overall. The SI list has interesting info.

They have Zeke at #3 overall, no way I would draft him that high. Also have Najee Harris #14 overall, too much risk there for me.

Zeke was #3 RB before Dak got hurt. Everyone seems to forget that.

Any fantasy insights about the Jags? From Rotoworld:
quote:

Meyer and Bevell have seemingly complex plans for Etienne. They deployed the rookie as a wideout in offseason practices, Meyer has called Etienne his “speed guy” on offense -- a third down back who will mostly be used as a pass catcher. This has generated some frothy comparisons to how Meyer used Percy Harvin at Florida, where Harvin had 153 rushing attempts and 99 receptions in his final two collegiate seasons. The most bullish Etienne truther would concede a Harvin-like role would be a best case scenario for the rookie. He’ll more likely have solid PPR value as a dynamic playmaker who can be used across the formation. Etienne in 2020 had the nation’s third most running back receptions (48) and the second most running back receiving yards (588), catching passes from Lawrence out of Clemson’s backfield. Etienne’s ADP of RB23 shows fantasy managers are hesitant to embrace the rookie as a locked-in RB2 in 12-team formats.

Rotoworld Jags Fantasy Preview
The link presents an image of Meyer that makes me nervous about how this experiment might work. Also did not realize the Jags had signed Carlos Hyde who had played for Meyer at OSU. There is a positive outlook on how Lawrence might be better for Chark.
Are we all going to look back in January and say Meyer shoulda stayed in college (a la Saban)?

I've thought that Meyer would use Etienne like he used Harvin and Curtis Samuel in college. I could have taken him at 5 overall in my rookie draft but I'm concerned that he won't get as many touches as fantasy owners need him to.

Fournette (Jones)
Hines (Taylor)
Edwards (Dobbins)
Singletary (moss)
Henderson (Akers)
Ahmed (gaskin)

What are the odds that at least 1 of these 6 gets propelled to a TOP 16 RB due to injury of either a starter or someone they share the load with?

I think these would have a decent shot

But the others don’t have enough value in their running game as an offense or the team would not commit to them enough to be top 16

It is the position with the most injury risk, so pretty good chance.
