Picking 1.12 later today...

Standard .5 PPR dynasty league with a small bonus for return yards.

Currently at pick 1.11 and Charbonnet, Achane and Dalton Kincaid are all available thanks to someone picking Mingo at 1.08.

My TEs are Goedert, Engram and McBride so I'll be passing on Kincaid.

My best RB is Josh Jacobs followed by Michael Carter, Boston Scott and a bunch of scrubs.

The guy picking 1.11 may take one of the RBs, which means I will just take the other one, but his TEs are kind of weak so he may take Kincaid...or someone else entirely.

I think Charbonnet may end up in a 50/50 split with Walker and both could see goal line work.

I see Achane fitting well in Miami's offensive system and could see some kick return work.

Depends what the bonus is for return yards IMO. I’d project it out with him getting the kick returns and see if that is meaningful. I do expect he’ll be doing kick returns.

But if Dalvin goes to Miami, that backfield becomes a real clusterfrick and is no better than Seattle. It’s still worth the risk to me at this point though so I’d go Achane. I don’t see anything more than a 50:50 split for Charbonnet in the short or long term future

1 pt for every 15 return yds (kick or punt).
6pts for a return TD

If you give him 500 yards, which is about top 20 returners - he gets about 2 points per game. That’s not bad, but not very impactful either. He still relies on Cook not going there

Agreed - even if he returns a couple of kicks for TDs, it isn't a huge difference. I've been checking projections for 2023 today and pretty much everyone says Charbonnet outscores Achane by 50-60 over the season.

I still haven't made my pick. We get 24 hours per pick and this current picker doesn't seem to be in a hurry.

So, I guess I'll make my pick when I get to work tomorrow morning.

I wouldn't count on anything from kick returns. There will be less returns if the new fair catch rule passes today with the ball coming out to the 25 yard line.

I’d take charbonnet.

He’s definitely going to get a solid work load and if Walker gets hurt he goes to the moon.

Achane is very small and might have to deal with a vet like Elliot, cook, or Fournette signing in Miami.

Kincade is the pick after the top 4 WRs go.

Charbonnet by a mile.

If you look at prospects with a similar profile to achane basically none of them have ever had long term success

I would have probably taken Kincaid but he was picked one spot earlier.

I ended up going to Achane.

Do you see more that that for Achane? Mostert is the same back so he’ll split the small back carries. The you still have Wilson handling power back duties. Add in the possibility of bringing in Cook and this decision starts to get lopsided IMO.

Achane has less competition for touches and is more gifted athletically.

Achane's BMI is 27.8 which is higher than Chris Johnson's. He is just shorter.

I want to push back on the notion that another back being signed would put Achane in the same position as Walker- you may believe that for THIS season, but Achane competing with Dalvin Cook this year is much better than Charbonnet competing with Ken Walker for the next 3 year. And I'd bet Ken Walker is better than Dalvin this year and I think it's pretty obvious that the other big name vets like Zeke and Lenny are surmountable obstacles at this point in their careers.

The point about Achane's size is valid. It gives me hope that he went to a Miami team that should boost rushing efficiency (good offensive mind and passing game weapons that scare a defense) for whoever the starter is. So he can probably get by on a less than ideal workload.

To be seen as he is now injured. How do we feel now?

I was relieved to see my response to this thread.

Even if you get 10 games out of him a season, you are getting RB1 numbers in those games probably. I’d much rather have a guy that misses a few games but doesn’t put up many dud games than a guy who plays every game but might put up 4 points when completely healthy. (A low end starter like R White or Sanders).
