I just don't understand, why are we so stupid.

"Here is money!"

Louisiana- "Nah we are good"

FanDuel and DK applied. Passed background checks. The hold back is proving the age verification (which every single other state already has) works on mobile. Mainly holding back to further push it.

The holdup is squarely on the Louisiana Gaming Commission.

They have no timetable to get things passed and running. Since fantasy sports isn't a money maker like other forms of gaming it isn't a priority to get it running like sports betting would be

What’s your best guess on sports gambling being up and running?

Sporting Betting (2022 Spring)

Fantasy Sports (Aug-Sept)

LaLege COULD pass legislation that puts a timeline on things getting done with the Gaming Commission, but there isn't enough support to pass any. So they could make the deadline for sports betting Sept 2021, no later for example.

Talked to Jim Nickel this morning a lobbyist from Baton Rouge for DraftKings and FanDuel

He expects fantasy to be running in the next 30-45 days. He's also confident that sports betting will get passed in Louisiana whether that be land based casinos or 100% mobile.

Yep. They keep adding things to the “check”.

They are now under a ton of pressure to get this rolled out. We should have it end of May latest.

Gaming keeps asking for more and more proof it works (the parishes that did not vote for it can not play and needs to be proven that the boundaries lines work). Just delaying it as long as they can before the politicians say it’s time now which is soon.

It will be sooner. Lots of politicians are catching a ton of heat from parishes.

Sports betting passes in the House 77-24. Huge step for legalization. I give it a 90% shot of legalization now
