Nobody is paying a first round draft pick for Gordon when you have to turn around and pay him a huge contract.

I think Gordon eventually blinks but it’s going to be a few weeks

No way you should do that deal. That’s not even really a discount

Not after what he sees what Zeke just got

He’ll obviously never get that. You know that. I know that. But he doesn’t.

Zeke had almost no leverage and got that deal. Gordon is gonna think he has leverage and just keep holding out

I mean he’ll have to blink at some point or lose that year towards FA. Them fines will start adding up

If he waits until week 10, he’ll lose 3.3 million.

If that is offset by what he thinks he can get on the open market next year, he’ll wait that long.

He has a lot of miles of the tires going back to Wisconsin. If he feels like he has a Gurley type wall coming, he will wait to get that one big payday.

I don’t think there’s any doubt he’ll get more on the open market than the Chargers are willing to give him. Some team will pay up, especially with the cap increase coming.

Elliott's the better player, no doubt. But the main difference between his situation and Melvin Gordon's is the teams involved. Jerry Jones likes to do deals and hold onto his players. The Chargers' priority is holding the line financially. Bad break for Melvin.

this about sums it up.

Zeke negotiations never felt personal. The Gordon situation appears to be a battle of wills.

Chargers are notoriously cheap, they will let Gordon walk and not bat an eye.

Gordon is fricking around with the wrong club, Chargers front office is pitiful and they are cheap as hell, this will keep going until he is forced to report before losing a year in FA.

Chargers 100% will not pay him.

Probably hoping for a trade by holding out. Chargers are done with him

Took Jackson in the 15th round as a flier. It's gonna be interesting to see what his role is gonna be while Gordon is out.

I did the same. They seem like they want to run with Ekeler. Let’s see if he can handle the load

The real question no one is asking:

What about Albert Wilson?

Did a little digging around on the Melvin Gordon trade market. To give you an idea of where it is, only offer I came across was from Philly.

In that deal, Jordan Howard would go to LA, the teams would swap mid-round picks, and the Chargers would eat salary. LA obviously said no.

Perhaps when injuries start to surface, Gordon will pick up more traction. But for now, he's stuck spinning his tires in a holdout with no end in sight.

Interesting on multiple fronts.
1. Gordon owners hoping for a trade, well don't hold your breath.
2. Little worrisome regarding my boy miles sanders

Yeah unless LA comes way off their asking price. No way a team even comes close to that for a RB.

My thinking is that San Diego will move the trade compensation to the 3rd round or so as long as the other team assumes all of MG's salary. San Diego is just soooo cheap.

Even the you would think it would be a team that thinks they're window is now and need a RB to win a Superbowl. How many teams are there like that? Philly and KC come to mind. Other teams that are rebuilding aren't going to want to take on a new contract and they're better off building through the draft and paying a RB on a rookie contract. It's just a tough situation all around.
