Giraffe, I've had my eye on a 2 for 2 swap with you, but I need to see what happens with one of the players involved before I get serious about it.

if Hardy stays healthy, he's productive. thats what they tell me. not sure how that is a spin.

He's hit 3 times in his career and all of those HRs have come with terrible avg/obp and no steals. He really doesn't produce anywhere else. He wasn't injured in 2009, he was optioned and replaced by the light hitting Alcides Escobar because he wasn't producing.

In 2010 in Minny he was hurt and saw about 1/3 less bats and produced 2/3rds less HRs - same shitty avg/obp, no steals.

2011 was the same in all respects but the ball flew out of the park again.

That's a marginal player with inflated value due to position scarcity. He hasn't been a keeper in this league except 1 year prior to this year.

he had the 4th best OPS of any SS in the MLB last year. How can you say his averages stuck?'

#1 HR in MLB
#4 RBI MLB
#4 OPS MLB
#11 runs MLB

in 07 and 08, the other years he got 500 ABS, he was top 5 among SS in these same categories

FWIW, I agreed to the trade on the assumption that Hardy would give me around a .800 OPS, 20-25 HR, 70-75 RBI, and 70-75 runs.

Profar is going to be a perennial All-Star in a tiny stadium, while playing a premium position. With Honk's three-year plan, I think he fits in perfectly. I think you'll be making trade offers to him in a couple of years.

If you really feel that way then you clearly overpaid for Hanley.

Thats been said about a ton of prospects. At some point he has to start getting players that have a proven track record.

Pretty difficult in this league with his team. He has to take the long view....that being said, I think his long view quota is met. He needs to sit tight for a couple of years and let these guys develop, make it to the show.

I wouldn't have bashed him for doing it last year but it just didn't seem like a move that needed to be made this year. I just couldn't see waiting that long to make a fantasy team competitive.

those are the facts, no feelings involved.

Hanley will put up similar power #s, but steal bases and score more runs. Hardy isn't in the same category.

but if he stays healthy he is a top 5-7 SS. You keep bringing up position scarcity as a negative, but that is the reason he is valuable.

you're not the first person to get hung up on a name. maybe thats why you choke every year

Eventually he will need real players. It's cute and all to have young prospects but none of them are guaranteed
