quote:Why are you arguing about minorities in Alabama not being able to get a photo ID at a drivers license office?
And they initially tried to close rural license offices only in majority African American counties...oops.
In Alabama an approved voter ID only speeds up the voting process. A person can vote in Alabama without a photo ID.
See how genuinely stupid you are?

Yes, downvote us because we request that you provide evidence of the abject fricking nonsense that you claim. Idiot.

Is there a single non-misconstrued fact in that entire race-baiting piece?
e.g.,
quote:. . . Importantly the proportion of illegal aliens registered was higher than either. Got it?
And the data attached showed that the percentage of black people at risk of losing their vote under the new law was much higher than that of whites.
Under NC's previous administration, one did actually not need to be a citizen to vote, because in fact there was no mechanism to check. Therefore there was no risk to the illegal participant. Dems in NC government literally recruited illegals to the state; then they were signed onto voting registers in droves.
By 2012, when NC finally changed it's driver's license requirements to include citizenship there were an estimated 350,000 "unauthorized" immigrants in the state, a significant number of whom were illegally registered to vote by paid Democrat operatives.
Now that NC driver's licenses are no longer issued to "unauthorized" immigrants, they would have a much more difficult time following Obama's request to illegally vote . . . if an ID was required. Without ID requirement or any way to verify legal status at the voting precinct, up to 250,000 illegal votes will be cast.
THAT is nidus of the demographic questions the WashPo racebaiting nitwit cited.
In addition there were a number of instances in which dead people cast ballots on election day in the most recent NC congressional elections. Now I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing most 'dead people' would lack a photo ID. Apparently the Dem shill judges disagree.

If you'd read the news, you'd find similar stories regarding Wisconsin, Kansas, North Dakota, etc. North Carolina is the easiest to point to this election cycle, but no honest observer claims it's an island of racism in a sea of harmony that is African American voting rights in the US.
Again, you can read our "news" as much as you'd like, and you can never find "facts" stating the intention is to stop minorities from voting. This is a defense put up by the left, and to that effect they pretend it to be fact. You can find no documented evidence that Voter ID is broadly intended as a measure to stop minority voting. Liberals have difficulty in understanding that their opinion does not mean FACT. All these cases are judgments. There are states that have held up the requirement, so I can use that as a FACT that it isn't racist according to your way of thinking. I won't deny that certain politicians may see it as a method to influence the vote in their area. But the same can be said that Democrats do not want to see it passed, because certain politicians see the ability for an illegal vote to be cast as a way for them to gain votes. There are no facts in these arguments. So quit pretending. Let's discuss REAL factual evidence of voter intimidation that is done out in the open such as the black panther situation (not pulling that example due to race, just because of the obvious example).
quote:
As a Republican, you should realize that voter ID laws are not the way to stop whatever you mean by that.
I'm not a Republican. Only vote I cast republican is president since there were no alternatives with a shot and I felt that was important enough to actually allow my vote to count for something other than empty support. What I meant, was it's obviously against this country's best interest to have outsiders vote, allowing them to indulge their self interests without paying a dime into our system. That would be like me walking into a shareholders meeting at a corporation without holding any stock and voting that I should get full dividends by electing random board members. I've invested nothing into that company, yet for some reason I feel I deserve something. Company is never going to let me do that shite. To say there is no in-person voter fraud is dishonest. How would we know the extent? And I think 1 is bad enough. It could be the one that cancels out MY vote.
And I know the "slippery slope" argument is cliché, but it is real. Don't pretend like Democrats would not make it legal to vote as an "undocumented citizen" if they could. They know those votes are theirs. They are just biding their time until they have the support to pull the trigger and get those new votes.

I think BamaAtl has about 60% of the posts in this thread. I did my part to keep him occupied and out of the other threads.

Another take on North Carolina IDs
This doesn't sound unreasonable to me. From National Review, "

Democrats’ North Carolina scaremongering is simply the latest sortie in a full-fledged war on any measures to ensure electoral probity.
quote:
Protecting the integrity of the ballot box need not be a massive or intrusive undertaking. In most stages, government-issued identification is required to operate a vehicle, or to purchase Tylenol. If there are, as Democrats continue to insist, large numbers of people without identification, they are locked out of much of modern American life, and local and state governments should be more aggressive in getting identification to them. However, if that is not the case, then it does not seem like an extraordinary burden to ask of voters weighing in on the direction of the country to supply as much identification as is required of them to buy a case of Coors.
