I was handed this (as was everyone else in line) while standing in line at my polling location. We weren't technically "in" the polling location. At the very least, I was seriously put off by this and ended up voting against their suggestions on everything I didn't have a previous opinion on.

Electioneering for sure, and very illegal.

Were you 30 or more feet away from the door of the polling place? If so, then it is legal.

If you were outside the restricted perimeter, it is legal.

If you're more than 50' away from the entrance to the building, then yes, they can hand it to you. Inside the building or within the limit of the entrance is illegal in Alabama.

Within 50 ft of the polling location, no not legal. Greater than 50 ft, legal.

Thanks for clearing it up. I came into work and my boss said it was pretty common for these to be handed out. I was definitely close (probably about 20-30 people from the front of the line - didn't measure it out) but I probably was further than 30 feet away.

Is that straight party vote option common in other places?

Never seen that before. Weird.

Alabama law is 30 feet not 50 feet.

It has been like that in Alabama a long time. If you want to vote straight party you literally just have to bubble in that one bubble and it votes for that party's candidate from President all the way through the ballot.

The only thing illegal is that people are leaving them on the tables. I am not sure if they are instructing people to do this or not. I was pissed when I walked in to vote and saw them on every table.
