Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains. - Winston Churchill

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries. - Winston Churchill

The whole history of the world is summed up in the fact that, when nations are strong, they are not always just, and when they wish to be just, they are no longer strong. - Winston Churchill

Many forms of government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time. - Winston Churchill

Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is - the strong horse that pulls the whole cart. - Winston Churchill

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. - Winston Churchill

The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see. - Winston Churchill

You don't make the poor richer by making the rich poorer. - Winston Churchill

If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves. - Winston Churchill

Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy. - Winston Churchill

A liberal is a man with both feet planted firmly in the air. - Winston Churchill

... it is the people who control the Government, not the Government the people. - Winston Churchill

This makes sense when discussing fiscal policy.

Her: "Mr. Churchill you are drunk."
Him: "Yes, madam, and you are ugly. But I shall be sober in the morning."

Churchill

I've been watching the new Netflix series "The Crown" recently, and the portrayal of Winston Churchill by John Lithgow is stellar IMO.

I don't think he was wildly unpopular for leading the Uk through an existential war. I'm pretty sure the people were grateful not to be subjugated to Nazi rule. His ouster had everything to do with domestic policy. Oh, and for someone who was 'wildly unpopular' that was sure nice of everyone to vote him back into office a second time. Might want to check your revisionist history.

I'm not arguing that he had a propensity for military action, sometimes unnecessarily so (as seen especially in his second term). But as I said, his initial ouster was related more to domestic policy, not to mention he was elected back into office a second time, which is impressive for someone who was apparently reviled. You're kidding yourself if you think he was viewed in anything other than a favorable light at the time of his death. His death brought the country to a screeching halt.

My mistake for being so brief I never meant to insinuate he was not still a national hero and revered as such I just wanted to touch on the subject of his popularity plummeting within political circles not the public in regards to his pushing for war consistently and wanted to make the comparison between his and Hilary's propensity for invasion and blood shed for personal reasons

Up votes for your pointing out my error in clarity in regards to his popularity and cause.
