Colbert was surprisingly on point for a moment

Colbert: “The Republican Party spent almost the entirety of this election in panic trying to stop Donald Trump from being their nominee, and when they could not, surprise! They won the presidency, both houses of Congress and soon, a new seat on the Supreme Court. It’s like the GOP got caught in a plunging elevator, and they all fell screaming ten stories down — and then landed gently to have the doors open on a candy store where everything is free.”

Most likely multiple seats

He didn't melt at all? I'm watching CNN and MSNBC to gauge the "protests".

I mean, that isn't anything that hasn't been discussed here. There isn't a better way to point out the ridiculousness of the Republican Party than describing how they just got a free pass for the next couple years after trying to shite on would be/future their boss.

He had about the biggest melt possible without actually crying. (That I actually saw. I didn't actually see him cry. He could've cried during commercial breaks though I don't know. )

Trump voters hate the GOP almost as much as Democrats do.
Let's not kid ourselves: "Republicans" got a huge wave of 3rd party voter types who flocked to Trump. This is Trump's win, not a conservative mandate.

Well you are wrong for interchanging the terms "Republican" and "conservative". "Republicans" have been shitting on conservatives for years just like democrats do to black folks.
Trump is lot closer to non-Washington conservatives with close the border and drain the swamp than he is to Washington Republicans.
He isn't conservative but conservatives (regular people, not TV ones) are not protesting his win.

The media and some people try to attach tags to voters. Most voters have no idea what those tags mean.
I keep forgetting whether I am left or right, conservative or liberal.
Trump appealed to people, not tags.

Both sides have the exact same issues.
Republicans take the true conservatives for granted and do nothing to help them.
Democrats take the African American vote for granted and do nothing to help them.
However, as you saw in 1992 with the "contract with America", the tea party uprising, and the Trump phenomenon....one group is wise enough to say "Up yours Wahington, we will do it ourselves".
The other group does dumb shite like making signs and chanting in the street.
If Trump lets us down, move over and we will put another one in his place.
