Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela has agreed on a two-year, $46M extension, sources tell ESPN. He had two years left on his current deal and now is under contract through 2024-2025.

For Capela now: four years, $82M-plus with the Hawks.

The potentially Pels related side of this is the Hawks seem like a team that might need to trade in a quarter for a few dimes at some point. The Pels have a lot of dimes.

Atlanta now has close to $100M in committed salary in 2023-24 to 4 players: Trae Young, John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Capela.

Upcoming decisions include rookie extensions for:

- Kevin Huerter (now)
- Cam Reddish and DeAndre Hunter (next offseason)

He’s good. His Pick and Lob game with Trae is especially deadly. Probably what we hoped what Adams would be, but LOL.

Also, not sure this bodes well for Jonas’s next deal.

I’d take Huerter all day. Would be an incredible fit here. Hindsight is 2020, but pick 6 in 2020, Huerter and filler for Jrue and 13 would’ve been great.

We’d have Huerter and Halliburton right now. Instead of Kira and some mystery Bucks picks.

I’d def try to get in on a Huerter deal now or at the deadline. He’s preferable to Buddy imho.

I don’t think we’re giving Jonas his next deal if it costs 20 million+ a year.

I’d tend to agree, but Griff loves his big rumbling slow centers so he really is not to be trusted. To be clear, I do like Jonas at something similar to what we paid Adams, If he actually proves to fit with our team and not looking like his body is breaking down this year.

Huerter is just scratching the surface.

I think they keep him and trade bogdanovic.

Then they will probably keep hunter.

Jv is such an upgrade over adams.

I feel like griffin is going to re-sign him on a 2 yr deal.
